As part of its oil refining operation Petrolog Group is involved in the following energy areas:
Power Generation - Performing Prefeasibility and Feasibility Studies.
- Development of the design, equipment selection and economics of the Power Plant considered.
- Preparation of the financial package.
The above Consulting Services focus on the following MAJOR items:
Prefeasibility and Feasibility Studies.
The Petrolog Group Team travels to investigate in the prospective country the need for a Power Plant. The Feasibility Study and visit to the host country establishes: - Viability of the project based on certain equipment and fuel
- Determines preliminary cost of the project
- Project economics and National Grid capabilities
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Plant
If the above four (4) major areas are not considered acceptable by Petrolog Groups management and/or prospective owners the project is stopped. If the answer is YES we proceed with steps (b) to (c) which also entail: - Sourcing of the equipment, new and surplus.
- Preparation of the Draft EIA Report for an Environmental Contractor to produce details and submit to the respective authorities.
- Source the fuel with specification for the Power Plant.
- Prepare the Design Basis for the project.
- Select EPC contractor and manage the project.
- Define the size of the Power Plant.
- Provide construction management.
- The objective of the above steps is to have the study result in the project being constructed and put in operation with state-of-the-art technology and minimum of maintenance.
Petrolog Group has been involved in the above activities for the last four years and has prepared studies in different regions of the world.
Fuels Fuels are from fossil fuels namely crude oil, and natural gas. Fuels are marketed from the various countries where Petrolog Group has its presence such as Venezuela, Nigeria. Major fuels marketed are Gasolines (85 and 93 Octane), Diesel, No. 2 Fuel Oil, Bunker C and LNG as well as special heavy oil for Power Plant turbines. As the market changes and the fuel specifications become more strict Petrolog recommends upgrading the equipment and/or adds equipment to the existing refineries.
