Drilling activities both onshore and offshore require various kinds of services to support the drilling operations. Petrolog has formed strategic alliances with companies and specialized groups of industries to support the drilling program both onshore and offshore. Some of the major services and support structures required for drilling are part of the business structure of Petrolog Group.
Through our allied organizations, Petrolog can provide Engineering design and Fabrication facilities for our customers. This can be related to assembly of rigs, platforms, offshore barges and their maintenance and modifications, as well as some fabrication. LWD/MWD Services: including resistivity and gamma rays, as well as density and porosity measurements while drilling. Top Drive Services: Replacing the conventional rotary table as a means of rotating drill pipe to drill the well. Top drive is more efficient compared to rotary table.
Rotating Mouse hole service:. This is a time saving device, which allows drill pipes to be assembled in triplets and stacked on the rig floor while drilling is in progress. Balanced and under-balanced drilling service: Most of the time drilling is done overbalanced to prevent formation fluid flowing into the open hole. This may cause damage to productive zones. Balanced and under-balanced drilling are sophisticated drilling techniques which can be realised through a system of achieving pressure control while drilling. This allows increased penetration rate ( i.e., faster drilling combined with much less damage to productive formations.) Mud logging Services: This is one of the essential services to support the drilling operations. This service, through a series of strategically placed sensors, provides measurements of various physical and chemical properties of mud, which is circulating through the drill pipe; also provides measurements of hydrocarbons coming out of drilled formations along with the mud. Petrolog has invested a great deal in developing proprietary software for offsite data transmission and log displays. Casing and Cementing Service: This service is required to case and cement each section of the open hole after drilling and logging. This is done in order to prevent possible caving in of formation, and provide stable conditions to drill the subsequent deeper sections. Wireline logging service: including measurements of formation fluid pressure as well as collection of formation fluid samples (RFT) and obtaining sidewall cores (SWC). Coring service in directional and horizontal wells: During drilling operation at time, continuous cores of drilled formations are recovered and preserved for geological studies. This service is rather infrequently required, but it is well within Petrolog's scope of services. Drill Stem Tests (DST): providing preliminary information on reservoir characteristics and production parameters. Perforation and Completion services: In case hydrocarbon is found in a well, the hydrocarbon bearing zones have to be perforated and tested for flow rate of the hydrocarbons from each zone. After testing, a wellhead has to be installed and completed as a producing well. Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Service: Petrolog maintains a very strong HSE program throughout its operations to meet the statutory obligations of the country of operations. Drill cuttings are collected, remediated, and disposed of properly. In case of offshore drilling, large vessels are provided to store waste drill cuttings, and hydrocarbon contaminated fluids disposed of properly <!--[if !supportLists]-->Barge Service: This service is particularly relevant in case of offshore drilling. Different types of barges such as accommodation barges and work barges are available for deployment as and when required. <!--[if !supportLists]-->Helicopter Services: This service is essential particularly in case of offshore drilling for speedy transportation of rig personnel, and emergency supplies.
