Petrolog Group is involved in the following downstream activities:

A. Prefeasibility and Feasibility Studies.
B. Development of the design basis and economics of the refinery considered.
C. Working with the leading refinery software companies Petrolog International establishes the refinery configuration, operating parameters, and economics.
D. Prepares the financial package.

Preparation of the above activities focus on the following MAJOR items:

  1. Prefeasibility and Feasibility Studies.

Through the presence of Petrolog International personnel in a country the need for a refinery is established.

The Petrolog Group's International Refining Team visits the country and people interested in establishing a new or upgrade on existing refinery.

The Feasibility Study establishes:

    1. Viability of the project

    2. Preliminary cost of the project

    3. Project economics

    4. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

If the above four(4) major areas are not considered acceptable by Petrolog management and/or prospective owners the project is stopped.

If the answer is YES we proceed with steps (B) through (D) which also entail:

  • Selection of the site.

  • Sourcing of the equipment, new and surplus.

  • Preparation of the Draft EIA Report for an Environmental Contractor to produce details and submit to the respective authorities.

  • Prepare a detailed list of crudes, and products, fuel specification for the software company to prepare a detailed economic and operating refinery model.

  • Select EPC contractor and manage the project.

  • Define market requirements.

Petrolog Group has been involved in the above activities for the last seven (7) years and has prepared studies in three different regions of the world. Of the three studies two were found viable and one (1) not viable to existing political and economic situations despite the fact that the market exists with a 5% per annum growth. Petrolog Group will revisit the project when the adverse conditions change.

Two of the successful refinery projects – West Africa and Central America – are in the first stages of development.
